President address to Members on reopening of the Club

The Calcutta Racket Club is pleased to welcome back its Members after being forced to stay shut for three months as part of the nationwide lockdown due to the global COVID-19 pandemic. Even as the pandemic rages on, the time has come to adapt to the “new normal” and learn to accept and live with the virus, all the while being mindful to adhere to all the safety precautions to keep the virus at bay. This is the strategy of Governments worldwide, including the Indian Government, as it has embarked on its various “unlocking” stages to bring back life as we knew it pre-Covid.

Keeping this strategy in mind, the Calcutta Racket Club cautiously re-opened its doors to Members on 22ndJune, 2020 with all safety protocol in place.  The well being and safety of the Members being paramount, no stone has been left unturned to ensure that the risk of infection is minimized to the greatest extent possible. The Club is being sanitized completely twice a day and each court has hand sanitizer, disinfectant spray and even a disinfectant solution for squash balls outside it. That apart, contactless temperature check for all those entering the premises (including staff),  coupled with liberal placements of hand sanitizers and adherence to social distancing and mask rules, ensure that the club is made as safe as possible for its members.

In line with the next phase of unlocking, the Club is proud to unveil its newly renovated gym for the benefit of its Members. With a whole new contemporary look and plenty of new equipment, the gym is ready to welcome back all of its old (as well as newly converted) patrons, keeping the best of safety protocols in mind.

With the 1793 Bar having recently re-opened to Members, the Club is now completely open with all of its activities being completely “unlocked” and having adapted to the “new normal”. With all safety protocols in place, the Club is more than ready to welcome all of us that have missed our “home away from home”.

Members are requested to please read all the SOPs of the Club carefully and adhere to all safety protocols/guidelines including maintaining social distance, frequent use of hand sanitizer/washing, respiratory hygiene, wearing mask at all times and refraining from spitting.
